இந்தப் போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெறும் மாணவர்களுக்கு சிறந்த பரிசுகளும் சான்றிதழ்களும் வழங்கப்படும். கலந்துகொள்ளும் மாணவர்கள் பலரும் பரிசு பெறும் வகையில் போட்டிகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
சென்ற 2016 மற்றும் 2017 ஆண்டு உட்லண்ட்ஸ் நூலகத்திலும், கீட் ஹாங் சமூக மன்றத்திலும் நடந்த போட்டிகளில் கலந்துகொண்ட மாணவர்களுக்கும் ஆதரவளித்த பெற்றோர்களுக்கும் எங்களின் இதயங்கனிந்த நன்றியினைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.
மொழிபெயர்ப்புப் போட்டியில் பங்குபெற விரும்புகிறவர்கள் ஆகஸ்டு 7ஆம் தேதி மாலை 8 மணிக்குள் பதிவு செய்து கொள்ளக் கீழ்க்கண்ட அமைப்புக்குழு உறுப்பினர்கள் யாரேனும் ஒருவரிடம் பதிவு செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டுமாய்க் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம்.

முதல் பிரிவு போட்டிகள் நடைபெறும் நேரத்தில் உடன் வந்துள்ள பெற்றோர்கள் கண்டுகளிக்க உயர்நிலை மாணவர்கள் பங்குபெறும் பட்டிமன்றம் நடைபெறும்.

English to Tamil Translation Competition for Primary School Students Organized by Tamil Pattimandra Kalai Kazhagam with the support of Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee

Round 2: Auditorium, Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre, 2 Beatty Road, Singapore 209954
Categories:
Category 1: Primary 1&2 – Translation of Words
Category 2: Primary 3&4 – Translation of Sentences
Category 3: Primary 5&6 – Translation of Sentences
Attractive prizes and Certificates will be awarded to the prize-winners. The competition is designed so as to motivate a number of students with prizes.
We wish to thank all students and parents who supported our similar competition in 2016 and 2017 at Woodlands Library and Keat Hong Community Club.
Interested students are requested to register for the Translation competition with any one of the following Organising Committee members on or before August 7, before 8 pm.

ENGLISH TO TAMIL TRANSLATION COMPETITION
RULES AND FORMAT
1. DATE AND VENUE
a. The competition shall be held on August 11, 2018 (Saturday)
b. The competition shall be held at the following venue:
Preliminary Round (Round 1):
Multi-purpose Hall, SINDA, 1, Beatty Road, Singapore 209943
Final Round (Round 2):
Auditorium, Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre, 2 Beatty Road, Singapore 209954
2. CATEGORIES
a. Category 1 – Students must be studying in Primary 1 or Primary 2
i. Translate given English Words to Tamil Words.
b. Category 2 – Students must be studying in Primary 3 or Primary 4
i. Translate given English Sentences to Tamil Sentences.
c. Category 3 – Students must be studying in Primary 5 or Primary 6
i. Translate given English Sentences to Tamil Sentences.
3. REPORTING TIME
a. All students who have registered for the competition need to report at the venue at 2.30 PM.
b. Reporting counter will close sharp at 3.30 PM.
c. Students who report after 3.30 PM will strictly not be entertained, even if they have registered earlier.
d. Upon reporting, the participating students will be under the charge of the volunteers of the Organising Committee.
e. Parents will be ushered to the Auditorium to enjoy a Tamil Debate by students.
4. COMPETITION FORMAT
a. Competitions for all the categories will be held in oral format.
b. The objective of the competition is to test the familiarity of the children with the words and phrases used in day to day life.
c. Hence, the words and sentences for the competition will be chosen from all walks of life which include but not limited to fruits, vegetables, animals, things, places, occupations, family relationships, verbs, adjectives, etc.
d. ROUND 1
i. Round 1 will be held on individual basis.
ii. Each student will be required to translate given English words/sentences to Tamil within a given time frame.
iii. Round 1 will be held in a closed door room. No teachers or parents will be permitted inside the contest room.
iv. A total of 20 students per category will be shortlisted to contest Round 2.
e. ROUND 2
i. Round 2 will be held in Groups of two students.
ii. The Grouping shall be as per the discretion of the organising committee.
iii. Each group will be given 10 minutes planning time before Round 2 begins, in order to familiarise with the partner and to strategise their answering technique.
iv. Each group will be required to translate given English words/sentences to Tamil within a given time frame.
5. PRIZES
a. Attractive prizes and Certificates will be awarded to the following prize-winners:
i. Consolation Prizes – 4 pairs in each category
ii. 3rd Prize – 1 pair in each category
iii. 2nd Prize – 1 pair in each category
iv. 1st Prize – 1 pair in each category
b. Judges’ decision shall be final.
6. REFRESHMENTS
a. Refreshments will be provided only to the participating students at the end of Round 1.
7. DISMISSAL OF STUDENTS
a. Students who have not been selected for Round 2 will be dismissed at the end of Round 1
b. Students who do not qualify for Round 2 are encouraged to sit in the auditorium with their parents or caretakers to watch Round 2.
c. Students who participate in Round 2 will be dismissed after the Prize distribution ceremony.
8. GENERAL RULES
a. All contestants must be in their respective School Uniform.
b. All contestants must bring their Identity Cards for verification.
c. The organizers reserve the right to amend the said rules of the competition at any time. Any amendments will be made known to the contestants as soon as possible.
